 No.2043[Watch Thread]

Artemis is a multiplayer-only spaceship simulator where each player becomes a crew member controlling one of the many facets of a spaceship: helms, weapons, communication, science, and engineering. A sixth player does not have controls but instead plays the role of captain, having access to the main display screen and giving orders to the rest of the crew. Intended for LAN play, the game uses a server/client setup that can also be used across the internet to connect crew members to each other via direct IP connection.

As of writing, the Steam version of the game is available in the Humble Bundle for $7 – which is what you'd pay if you and a bunch of friends split the full $40 price tag to purchase the game directly from the developer instead. You can also unlock a Steam 4-pack for $17. If you get the direct purchase version, the game comes with no DRM or install limits, so you can share it with your intended crew. While nothing is stopping you and your crew from redistributing it further, you're encouraged to buy your own copy for each crew.

Or just torrent it.

 No.2047

Communications can send and receive messages with other ships and space stations, exchanging orders, requests, and threats as needed.

 No.2048

The all important Weapons display. Similar to the Helm, angle and close range radar are displayed here to guide various beams, torpedoes, and more to their intended targets.

 No.2049

And this is the Observation view, which is all the captain of a ship sees. If you have a pimped out battle station and some IRL friends that aren't made of printed cotton or foam rubber, then you can put this up on a big projector screen for everyone to watch nervously when they should be doing their jobs.

 No.2055

I'm still keenly interested in organizing a crew and mission. If you're up for it, let me know here, in MLPG, or on Skype.

The game is DRM free if you don't want to buy.

Is it fun?

We'll find out, won't we?

If you join, please include your Skype handle so we can operate a phone call during the mission.

 No.2536

Aside from Helm and Weapons, Engineering is the next most important station as it optimizes the ship's capabilities. When in combat, Warp can be powered down in favor of Weapons and Maneuvering. During downtime, energy can be devoted to producing torpedoes or boosting long-range scanners.
